Regional
Ministries

The Presbytery of the
Highlands - The Presbytery’s purpose is to work for God’s Reign by connecting, governing and
supporting its congregations and ministers as they experience God, grow in
faithfulness and manifest, in word and deed, the Gospel of Jesus Christ. As the
regional governing body for 63 Presbyterian member churches in New Jersey's
Morris, Sussex, Warren, and Hunterdon counties, they are one of 22 Presbyteries
that make up the Synod of the Northeast of the Presbyterian Church (USA). Membership is comprised of the
ministers of the member churches, together with an equal number of elders.
Officers and Staff conduct the business of the Presbytery, and Mission,
Ministry, Nurture & Resources, Church Development & Redevelopment, and
Youth Ministries programs are carried out by the Program Committees. Newton
Presbytery has a number of resources available to member churches, their
ministers, and congregants. For example, the Resource Center (located at the office at
390 Route 10 West, Randolph) contains many books, pamphlets, and videos that any
Presbytery church member can borrow for up to a month at a time. Volunteer
opportunities exist on numerous Presbytery committees. Visit the website at www.newtonpresbytery.org.
Camp
Johnsonburg –
The mission of the Johnsonburg Camp and Retreat Center is to provide a place
apart where all people can experience God’s love within a welcoming
Christian community. Established in 1959 to provide experiential
Christian education in support of the Presbyterian Church in New Jersey,
Johnsonburg today is a place where all people are valued equally, and where
everyone is encouraged to take
another vital step toward realizing oneness in Christ.
Hilltop
Church supports the mission of the Johnsonburg Presbyterian Center,
provides volunteers to help with camp maintenance, sponsors inner-city
children and congregation children through camperships, and provides Board
leadership.
