Regional Ministries

Presbytery of Newton - Newton Presbytery’s purpose is to work for God’s Reign by connecting, governing and supporting its congregations and ministers as they experience God, grow in faithfulness and manifest, in word and deed, the Gospel of Jesus Christ. As the regional governing body for 63 Presbyterian member churches in New Jersey's Morris, Sussex, Warren, and Hunterdon counties, they are one of 22 Presbyteries that make up the Synod of the Northeast of the Presbyterian Church (USA). Membership is comprised of the ministers of the member churches, together with an equal number of elders.

Officers and Staff conduct the business of the Presbytery, and Mission, Ministry, Nurture & Resources, Church Development & Redevelopment, and Youth Ministries programs are carried out by the Program Committees. Newton Presbytery has a number of resources available to member churches, their ministers, and congregants. For example, the Resource Center (located at the office at 390 Route 10 West, Randolph) contains many books, pamphlets, and videos that any Presbytery church member can borrow for up to a month at a time. Volunteer opportunities exist on numerous Presbytery committees. Visit the website at www.newtonpresbytery.org.

SUMMER YOUTH MISSION TRIP

2010 Summer Mission Trip Youth

Summer Mission Trip – Each summer, a group of youth from the Mendham area and adult leaders from Hilltop Church spend up to a week supporting an organization in need of hands-on help. We provide the labor for various construction and clean-up projects in support of a selected agency that works to help people who, on their own, are unable to meet their needs for safe and adequate shelter, clothing, food and basic well-being. This is done in a manner that maintains or improves a recipient's self worth and dignity. Simply put, our mission is to help those in need get a start on helping themselves. This is done through donations of time and money from within out congregation and community. There are 3 ways Hilltop Church members and their friends can be involved in mission trips. These include joining the trip, donating money or sometimes donating food. These trips not only help people in need, but provide participants with memories that will last a lifetime. Past trips included support for Rural Community Action Ministry (RCAM) in Maine, The Meeting Ground in Maryland, Habitat for Humanity in Maine, and Holmes Presbyterian Camp in Holmes, NY.

This year’s youth mission trip is to the Appalachia region with service organization ActNow.  For more information contact Mission Liaison Jenn Dussault.

Established in 1959 to provide experiential Christian education in support of the Presbyterian Church in New Jersey, Johnsonburg today is a place where city kids meet country kids, where black and white discover common ground, where the rich and poor of means and spirit are valued equally, and where each is encouraged to take another vital step toward realizing oneness in Christ.

Hilltop Church supports the mission of the Johnsonburg Presbyterian Center, provides volunteers to help with camp maintenance, sponsors inner-city children and congregation children through camperships, and provides Board leadership.

For more information, contact Jeffrey Betz at 973-543-5557 or visit the Camp Jonhsonburg website at www.campjburg.org.

CASA of Morris and Sussex County – The mission of CASA is to speak up for the best interests of children who have been removed from their homes due to abuse and neglect. They recruit, train and supervise community volunteers who provide a voice in court to assure each child a safe, permanent and nurturing home.

Hilltop Church supports the mission of CASA, provides funding for its activities, and provides Board leadership.
